Privacy
What we keep, which is almost nothing
A description of a child's circumstances is about the most sensitive thing a person can type. The safest way to protect it is not to receive it, so that is the arrangement.
What never leaves your device
- What you write about what has been happening.
- The themes you select.
- The world, the character and the name the child chose.
- Every choice made during the story.
- The session notes you can copy at the end, which go to your clipboard and nowhere else.
All of it is held in your browser tab’s session storage. It is not transmitted, not backed up and not recoverable. Closing the tab erases it, and we cannot retrieve it for you because we never had it.
Why the stories are written by people
Stories are assembled from text written and reviewed by people, not generated on demand by an external service. That is partly about safety, because every sentence a child reads has been read by an adult first, and partly about privacy, because a generated story would mean sending your description somewhere to be processed.
What the site does collect
Like most websites, this one records basic, aggregate visit statistics: which pages were opened, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and what kind of device it was. That is used to keep the site working and to see which pages are useful.
It does not include anything you typed, anything the child chose, or anything about the story. Those never reach the server, so they cannot appear in any statistic.
The server also keeps ordinary technical logs of requests and errors, which are used to fix faults. Story content is not in them.
No accounts, no cookies for tracking you
There is nothing to sign up for and no account to create. The site sets no cookie for identifying or tracking a visitor between visits.
What this means in practice
- You cannot come back tomorrow and reopen yesterday's story. Set up a new one, which takes about two minutes.
- If you need a record of a session, write your own note. The copy button at the end gives you the character's choices as plain text to paste into your own system.
- On a shared or family computer, close the tab when you finish. That is enough to clear it.
- If a child discloses something, the record that matters is the one you write, not anything in this app.
Questions
If you are responsible for this site inside your organisation and need something in writing for a privacy assessment, the short version is: no personal information is collected, stored or processed by the application, because the application has no storage and no account system, and the sensitive content never leaves the browser.
